Late 50s condominium building in central Austin, just north of the University, with views across south Austin. This 900 sq ft eighth floor apartment required a complete fit out and as part of this refurbishment required compliance with city ordinances for fire and compartmentation - which proved tricky in a concrete block built fifty years ago, and negotiations were prolonged and difficult. The piece meal refurbishment of many of the apartments meant that each one had to be considered on its merits. Never the less the project completed and, as with many others, set a general socio-geographic trend to move from the suburbs back into the centre of downtown Austin which had been neglected for many years.
